Programme Introduction

Programme Title: Doctor of Philosophy (Nursing)                 
Mode of Study: Full-time face-to-face study (evening or weekend)
Maximum Duration: Three to seven years
Medium of instruction: Chinese, English
Academic Degree: Doctor of Philosophy

International Recognition
The programme has been accredited by Quality Assurance Agency of UK in February 2023 and approved in May 2023.

Programme Aims
1. In alignment with the educational philosophy of “From Personhood to Benevolence”, to prepare students to become experts at the high level of nursing and health science field;
2. To cultivate students into talents who advance the development and application of theories of nursing and health science, contributing to the country and the health of mankind.
 
Programme Intended Learning Outcome(PILO)
After the completion of the programme, students should be able:
1.
To demonstrate an understanding and responsibilities for evolving nurse’s roles and professional leadership through conducting original scientific research and academic inquiry;
2.
To conduct high quality and ethically conformed research studies independently and in disseminating scientific evidences to both professionals and lay groups;                             
3.
To master a specific knowledge system of nursing and its cutting-edge development, and to become an expert demonstrating creativity in positive changes.

Remark: With the approval of the College, students may also take specified nursing-related subject for three credits at Peking Union Medical College.

Entrance Requirements

1.  Obtained a Master of Nursing Programme (MN) from a recognized university, or;
2.  Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme (BSN) and master's degree in equivalent disciplines from a recognized university, or;
3.  Obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in non-nursing but health related disciplines from a recognized university, or holders with a Bachelor of Nursing with Honours from a recognized university with excellence academic performance will be selected by individual assessment.
