Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) and the School of Nursing of Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) have maintained a close and long-standing partnership in nurturing outstanding nursing professionals with international perspectives, with the two institutions exchanging student and teacher visits since the 1990s. In 2021, the exchange programme was officially launched, with mutual recognition of credits, to provide students with more enriching learning and exchange opportunities.
In January 2025, three junior students from PUMC, namely Fang Helin, Zheng Yiru and Meng Yuchen, arrived in Macao for a semester-long exchange programme. To facilitate their integration into the academic and social life in Macao, the College assigned their classmates as study partners, providing comprehensive support for their academic and personal development. During their exchange period, the students are expected to gain a profound understanding of Macao's healthcare system and the distinctive features of nursing education, with a view to promoting cultural exchange between the nursing professions of the two places.
Concurrently, four junior students from Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC), namely Chan Ling Jun, Fong Nga Ieng, Lo Suet Lai and Lam Hio Kuen, embarked on a semester-long exchange programme at PUMC this week. The programme will provide them with systematic professional training and the opportunity to intern at the nationally renowned Peking Union Medical College. There, they will have the opportunity to experience the clinical practice of a first-class medical institution, laying an important foundation for their future career development.
Following the successful launch of the exchange programme, the two institutions will further deepen their partnership and carry out more substantive cooperation in areas such as academic research, sharing of teaching resources, and exchange of visits between students and teachers. The aim is to join hands in nurturing outstanding talents for the healthcare industry of the two places and jointly promote the development and innovation of the nursing profession.
